In this week’s edition of Mike’s Marketing Minutes, I cover how to maximize results for any promotion you do, and tell you what your customers really want.

Use this information when it comes to making any promotion you do a success with your customers.

The most powerful letters in marketing are W.I.I.F.M.

Which means: What’s in it for me?  You must craft your offer, your marketing, and promotional campaigns using this perspective. Put yourself in your customers’ shoes and try to imagine if what you are talking about or offering them will really motivate them into action.

Please don’t disregard how hard it is to get someone to do what you want them to do in today’s world.

People are distracted and have many, many options for any product or service. Restaurants, food delivery, auto repair, retail…whatever business you are in. It doesn’t matter. With the internet and mobile phones your customers can choose one of your competitors in a matter of seconds with a flick of their finger.

You need to craft your offer / promotion keeping this in mind. You need something with a high perceived value that sounds amazing. If you’re going to give away a pizza, for example, make it sound like it’s the most incredible pizza in the world that is adored by millions.

You must be outrageous just to get noticed in today’s marketplace. My friend, Bill Glazer, wrote a book on Outrageous Marketing that’s worth checking out. I wrote a chapter on our most outrageously successful, done for you marketing campaign for restaurant owners…The No Peeking / Red Envelope Promotion.

Have a great weekend!

P.S. WARNING: To take advantage of this highly successful campaign, you need to take action now to make it work. Pass it out in December to pack your restaurant in January. Dig the well BEFORE you thirst.
