Black Friday is quickly approaching, and if you’re a business owner, you’ve probably realized it’s going to look very different this year. There is no way people are going to be packing any stores this year to get deals.

In previous years, customers lined up for days in front of Best Buy, Target, and Walmart – pushing each other against the glass doors like a herd of hungry cattle waiting to bust in for dinner.

Then, they push and claw their way into the store, beating each other over the head with whatever object that’s closest – like a plastic bat or Nerf football to fend off others…just to make sure they get the last big screen TV on sale for $297. (Or maybe even a baby Yoda? That might be worth it. )

Happy Holidays!

What about the Online shopping trend for those that prefer the safety of their own homes? Do you think with everything going on this year, it might affect how people buy this holiday season? This year, no one wants to be in a sea of people, elbow-to-elbow.

Did you know that last year, shoppers spent $7.4 Billion ONLINE on Black Friday? Given the circumstances, this year’s number could look a lot higher. So how can you claim your piece of the pie?

You need to find a way to set yourself apart from your competition, which means you will need to create a lot of focus on your deals. Offering freebies with purchases will help that, but you’ll need a unique marketing message to really catch consumers’ eyes.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2020 are poised to be bigger and more competitive than ever before. Not only have online shopping sales doubled during the Pandemic, but most holiday shoppers will be doing their holiday shopping online.

Can you say… GIFT CARDS!

Winning The Black Friday Online Shopping Frenzy

1. Start Early

You’ve heard me say this time and time again. Don’t do panic marketing. For Black Friday and your holiday marketing, you need to start NOW. Please don’t wait, have it planned out ready to go like next week. If you need help with this, call us today at the office 248-716-3110, its what we do.

Every year for Black Friday, you hear about companies starting earlier and earlier each passing year. You should too. Geez, I heard Christmas music on the radio on the way to the office this morning. Take the hint.

2. Don’t Get Cheap

Go big or go home, right? You must do something outrageous to stand out from your competition. And use dollars instead of percentages. Dollars have value and mean something to your customers. Percentages are hard for your customers to calculate and have little value. Would you rather have $10 OFF or a 10% discount?

Which would you buy?

Go as big as you can. When it comes to Black Friday, people are conditioned to look for deals. It’s all about who has the best deal. Don’t forget, the most powerful word in marketing is… FREE.

3. Feed A Starving Crowd

Your customers are ready and conditioned to buy with cash in hand right after Thanksgiving, thanks to all the publicity, ads, commercials, etc. Around the holidays, there’s already a sense of urgency built into this time of year. Your customers are racing to get the best deals and get their shopping done early.

Don’t make it hard for them to give you money. Have an easy online ordering system in place that’s tested and ready to go. Make sure you are able to get them their gift card, products, or certificates ASAP. Nobody likes to wait for anything anymore… thanks, Amazon! If you are shipping something to your customers, FREE shipping or delivery is a great bonus for anything you are selling that weekend.

4. Give Them A Bounce-Back To Keep It Rolling

This is one of my favorite make-more-money selling techniques. Why not get your customers back again, and again, and again… even after the holidays? Dig the well before you thirst.

Give your customers something as a “thank you” when they give you money. A great example of this is a promotional gift card that is valid for a very specific time. It has an expiration date attached to encourage a quick return. You want to create a habit with your customers.

This is pretty much the standard in the restaurant industry. Buy a $50 gift card and get a $10 bonus card. Why not try something different this year?

With every $50 gift card purchased, get Our Famous (You Fill in Dessert or Appetizer) for FREE!

Or… a FREE entry into our drawing to win Dinner for a Year! with every $50 gift card purchased.

Get creative, kick it up a notch, and stand out from the herd.
