Most of us have a fundamental misunderstanding about what “working on your business” actually means. We might think that it is the time we spend doing work for our company, but this isn’t true. When working on your business, you’re focused on making your business and your life better. One of the highest value tasks you can focus on is growing sales.

I know it isn’t easy right now, but you can’t take your foot off the marketing pedal. Things are constantly changing right now, and you don’t want to get caught around the next turn. Wondering where all your business went.

One way to do this is by using leverage. In this article, I’ll show how you can get more accomplished with just a few tweaks while still investing quality time into other areas of your life so that they don’t suffer from neglect. Like your health and your family. That’s not good for anyone.

Tracking Your Time

Time Tracking for Organizing Business

In the first place, let’s look into how you can use your time more effectively by tracking it. This is a great way to get started and understand where all your time goes throughout your workday. There are many different tools available- one I can suggest to you is as one example because it’s very simple and easy to use for this purpose.

What’s nice about Toggl is that you can view reports with graphs showing exactly when during the day you worked most efficiently as well as when you might have been more distracted. This way, you’ll be able to prioritize your tasks in a better way and get the maximum results from each hour spent working on them.

When you know how you are spending your days, you will be better able to plan and figure out what you should be focusing on to maximize your efforts. It might even amaze you to see what you are spending most of your time on.

Let It Go

This takes some getting used to. To be able to delegate and let others take control and own certain tasks. But once you get over the initial shock, you might realize that they can do a better job than you can.

Start slow and ease into this one. I wouldn’t delegate tasks that impact major decisions that will affect your business, your income, or your customer’s long term. But I’m sure there are plenty of things you are doing that someone else within your company can take over for you.

Once you learn how to delegate work where appropriate, people can take care of certain things while freeing up your time for other important priorities. One effective method would be outlining specific milestones within projects and assigning different responsibilities according to these milestones.

For example, if one person is very analytical and loves numbers, let them handle your inventory recording and prepare reports for you or order sheets to make your life easier. A good project management software for communication that’s inexpensive is Trello. They have cards added by members of your team with assigned tasks and deadlines to make things much easier.

What I love about Trello is that it’s very simple, intuitive, and easy to use, so you can share it easily via email or by inviting people into a shared workspace where they can work on projects together in real-time without having to wait for an update from someone else who might not be online at the moment.

The main idea is to take advantage of the specific talents and skill sets within your team in order to save time, complete projects faster, and achieve more. This way, you can work less while achieving much more, which will help you focus on other things throughout daily life because it’s very fulfilling when you know that one task has been completed successfully.

There are several ways you can work less while achieving more in your own company, but it’s important to mention the importance of hiring the right people for your team because you should always look at the specific talents and skill sets each person has to offer opposed to their position. And realize not everyone is good at everything. People have different talents for different tasks within your company.

You’ll never know till you give them a shot! You might be pleasantly surprised. But don’t forget to inspect what you expect.

Leverage The Key To Getting Things Done

Next, let’s talk about leveraging others’ talents when taking care of various projects because this will help you save loads of time and increase your productivity substantially. For example, if there are certain areas requiring more technical skills within your company, then perhaps hiring experts in these fields would be worth considering because they would do a much better job than you and might even complete the project faster.

On top of that, these individuals can also teach your team members how to become more efficient and take over certain tasks in the future, so it’s a win-win!

You can also use talented freelancers or agencies for any tasks where their expertise might be helpful because many of these services are outsourced nowadays, which means they’re very affordable.

If you can hire someone or a business to do something quicker better than you can, it will save you time and money, do it. The one asset you have that can never be replaced is your time. Money you can always replenish and get more. Your time can’t.

When you hire a professional person, team, or business, there are many benefits compared to having a full-time person on your staff:

  1. They don’t take vacations (or sick days). A professional firm never takes time off.
  2. You can delegate your chores to a team of experts instead of doing it yourself.
  3. You can avoid mistakes by outsourcing tasks that don’t fit your business model or budget.
  4. You can have a high-performance team at half the cost. Tapping into decades of experience, you are also getting multiple people working for you instead of just one, you. This means higher productivity and better results.
  5. You can expand your business by hiring skilled professionals you can trust.
  6. You can give yourself more time for what really matters––you.

Finding a company that has a proven track record can be a daunting experience. Again, it’s not something that anyone likes to do. But it will pay off ten-fold for you and your business and help protect your sanity.

Ask for proven results when searching to work with a company or professional. You want to be able to see examples of what you need done with real-life testimonials and results from other clients. If a company is not able to provide you with results, you will want to be cautious before you proceed.

Leverage is the best way to get more done in less time for any entrepreneur.
