It all starts with marketing and communicating with your customers. They need to know you are still open and what the procedures are for when they come to your business.

Also, any specials you may have or things they wouldn’t know if you didn’t tell them about your operations.

Now more than ever, business owners need to lean on their customers for more sales. Communicate with your existing customers through email. If you have an email database, this is the #1 way to let me know what’s going on at your business, and so much more.

You decide on how many emails you want to send them per week/month. Everyone is sitting at home, reading their emails – they want/need to hear from you.

Here are a few suggestions of things to include in your emails:

• Daily/weekly specials and your current hours of operation

• Directions on how they can order carryout and delivery from you

• Personal messages from the owner/manager

• Spotlight your staff

• Your health/safety precautions

• And anything else that you think is important for YOUR customers to know

Email tip: Many of your customers read their emails on their phones, so make sure your emails are mobile-friendly!

Don’t have an email list? START NOW! Having a database is the best way to communicate with your customers.

Having a subject line is a critical part of an email. If the subject line doesn’t jump out to them, they won’t open it. Email subject lines with the word “thanks” work great, especially right now. Who’s not going to open an email that says thanks?!
